Rachel Deckler, RN, MSN, IBCLC Rachel is the mother of four wonderful children, and the primary lactation consultant and owner of Austin Breastfeeding. Rachel began her career 15 years ago apprenticing with Austin area midwives. Through that experience she fell in love with helping new mothers.
After receiving a Masters from the University of Texas in nursing Rachel forged her craft in various fields of women’s care including Obstetrics, Fertility, and of course, Lactation! Rachel had the privilege of serving as a lactation consultant with the St. David’s healthcare system for six years, most recently leading the lactation department of St. David’s South Austin.
After giving birth to her fourth child Rachel decided to start Austin Breastfeeding. Both to have more time to devote to her children, and to offer much needed expertise and personalized follow-up care to new moms struggling with breastfeeding in their home setting.
Rachel is excited to offer single-session breastfeeding classes for new moms who plan to breastfeed their little one. Each class runs approximately two hours and I encourage you to bring your spouse along. At the class you’ll learn:
- What to expect in the first days
- Comfortable breastfeeding positions
- How to achieve a good “latch”
- Is my baby getting enough?
- Troubleshooting issues such as nipple soreness
- Returning to work while breastfeeding
- And much more!
The cost for the breastfeeding class is $60 and you are welcome to bring the hubby along.
