Women's Health Texas – Austin

Classes and Events

Classes and events for new parents, siblings and moms-to-be

We are happy to offer childbirth classes and child-related instruction to the patients of Women’s Health Texas. Our Austin OBGYNs want their patients to be aware of their philosophy and allow you an opportunity to ask questions. Classes are taught by qualified nurses.

About our childbirth classes

Our childbirth classes consist of a thorough explanation of the labor and delivery process, with an emphasis on a variety of relaxation techniques for labor. We will also discuss anesthesia options, Cesarean sections, variations of the birthing experience, and much more.

Our Saturday childbirth instruction also contains basic breastfeeding information and positive parenting concepts. We offer weekday evening classes OR you may choose our weekend day classes. Childbirth classes are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Basic childbirth classes

Taught by a labor and delivery nurse, these childbirth classes will include stages of labor, when to call for labor, information on the hospital stay, and an overview and practice of breathing and relaxation techniques you will use for natural labor or before you receive your epidural. A variety of positions used to enhance labor will be demonstrated. This childbirth instruction also briefly touches on variations of normal labor, such as inductions, interventions and C sections.

Sibling preparation classes

When a family is expecting a new baby, it can be hard for an older brother or sister to know what to do, what to expect or how to feel. This class was designed to help prepare young children, between the ages of 3 and 7, for changes that will occur when the new baby arrives. They’ll learn how to be a great sibling!
