Dr. Summers loves working with women throughout every stage in life. She graduated cum laude from The University of Texas in Austin with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences. Dr. Summers then worked for a few years as a certified child life specialist focusing on the emotional aspects of children in the hospital setting. However, she realized this role provided a chance to work with only one dimension of medicine and craved a more holistic, multidimensional setting for working with patients. Dr. Summers completed medical school at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. While there, she was awarded membership into Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. She completed her residency training at UT Southwestern, where she received multiple awards and served as chief resident during her fourth year.
Dr. Summers elected to complete an additional year of training in a gynecologic advanced pelvic and robotic fellowship, where she gained additional experience in complex pelvic surgeries and minimally invasive techniques including the daVinci robotic system. She currently serves as a clinical assistant professor at The University of Texas Dell Medical School and has recently awarded a Rising Star as one of Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors.
She and her husband, Zach, love being in Austin and enjoy time with their sons and their other child, their dog, Blue. Both kids have been cared for by the docs at WPIH!
