Nancy Loomis has been a nurse midwife since 1980, providing care to women in office, clinic and hospital settings. While no longer assisting at birth, she feels she can still be “with women” by providing well woman care, education, and counseling throughout a woman’s life.

Nancy earned her BS in nursing with high honors from the University of Pennsylvania in 1975. She received her midwifery education from Yale University, graduating with honors in 1980. She was certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives in 1980. She received her colposcopy training at MD Anderson in 2001.

She provided nurse midwifery care for rural women in West Virginia through the National Health Service and county health department, and a small private midwifery practice through the faculty practice of West Virginia University Hospital from 1980-1985. She then provided nurse midwifery care in the Washington, DC metro area until 1993. From 1993-1996, Nancy worked in Nacogdoches, TX and then for the Army at Fort Hood until joining WPIH in April of 1996.

Nancy enjoys music, reading (especially science fiction), travel, and spending time with her husband Kurt and daughter Rebecca.
